Here is your weekly installment of Tuesday Traction Points - Five things I'm seeing and experiencing that give me, and the entrepreneurs I work with, Traction!
Billionaire Melinda Gates Does This for 60 Minutes Every Single Morning
Keeping your schedule manageable and staying productive comes down to spending your time well, which Gates excels at. Time management expert Laura Vanderkam evangelized this concept on the TED stage: "We don't build the lives we want by saving time," she said in her TEDWomen talk in 2016. "We build the lives we want, and then time saves itself."
Amazing Video I’ve Watched 20 Times
What? All four wheels swapped in less than 2 seconds? It is amazing to watch this pit crew get it done! And how do they do it? Every person on the team knows what they are Accountable for, they know their Tools because they practice, and they execute with Discipline!
Is your company getting everything it needs from the visionary seat?
Often, a Visionary started as a doer who now struggles to see thinking as work. So, they don’t delegate the things they really shouldn’t be doing. They hang on to the sales role, even though it is causing problems with the team. They continue to manage the accounts, even though the customer isn’t really getting the service they need. They are “helping” with the design when it really isn’t much help.
Even if you are good at the role you are performing, is this really your highest and best use in the company? If not, then it is time to delegate.
Book I Have Been Reading
Play Bigger is an interesting read on the heels of another book I recently read called Traversing the Traction Gap. The Traction Gap framework described the steps from MVC (minimum viable category) through the journey to scalability. Play Bigger provides rich detail on what it means to create a product category. The idea of selling different rather than selling better is aligned with the way I coach companies on the “Three Uniques” they communicate as part of their Marketing Strategy.
