Here is your weekly installment of Tuesday Traction Points - Key things I'm seeing and experiencing that give me, and the entrepreneurs I work with, Traction!
Spotlight on Disruption
The world of cinematic lighting has not had major technological breakthroughs for over 75 years. Lighting a set to film a movie scene has taken lots of electrical power, and required skilled crews and grips to setup fragile lights and achieve just the right lighting with silks and gels.
A week ago, I attended a pre-launch preview of the Anthem One lighting system created by entrepreneurs in the film industry! I was blown away with the innovation and potential for disruption! The live demo comparing the Anthem One to other lighting ushers in a new era of lighting. Small, lightweight, efficient LED arrays crank out 30,000 lumens with 200 watts.
Since the Anthem One can be tuned to achieve ideal light spectrums, applications for indoor agriculture, sport, military and industrial are ripe for penetration of this new technology!

Quote I'm Pondering ...
"There's a huge opportunity cost to having a clogged and cluttered mind. It's like holding it way, way too long when you have to go pee. Don't do this to your mind. When you get insights or ideas, immediately record them. Get them down on paper or record them in audio. Outsource your thinking to your environment to free your working memory space."
Four Ways to Use Your Core Values to Attract and Hire Great People
In general, I recommend that my clients focus on infusing core values into two specific areas in the hiring process:
- Attracting Talent - Marketing your company’s values to attract applicants that want to work in a culture like yours
- Evaluating Candidates - Confirming that the applicants share and exhibit your core values
Check out these four ways to attract and evaluate candidates for roles at your company.

What I'm Reading...
I picked up Willpower Doesn't Work by Benjamin Hardy at a workshop I attended a few weekends ago. Since I always have a stack of books to read, my wife somehow grabbed this one first and I was hearing about how good it is!
"Willpower is for people who haven't decided what they actually want in their lives."
Hardy presents sound strategies for figuring out what we really want (thus eliminating internal conflict). Then when we align our desires, invest in ourselves and our dreams, and create an environment to support our goals... the magic happens.
